What to expect
Whether this will be your first time in a church, or whether you've been going for years, you're warmly welcome at Anthem Church. Here's a flavour of what to expect when we meet on a Sunday...
Worship
We want our worship to be truth-filled and Spirit-led. And importantly, we want to make room for God to be at work among us. Our worship isn't a performance, but something we can all contribute to! Often we'll give time to breaking bread (communion), sharing encouraging testimonies and praying for one another.
Bible Teaching
We strive to be a 'word and Spirit' church. That means we want our teaching of the Bible to be rigorous and theologically deep. At the same time we're pursuing the Spirit and his supernatural gifts, believing that they operate today and change lives.
Food
We always eat together at the end of our services. It's not just an extra, but an important time where we can deepen friendships, laugh, catch up, have fun and be together as a church family. Discipleship thrives when we have close relationships, so we prioritise this time hanging out together.

Doing Life Together
Jesus intended every Christian to be a disciple, not just a believer. His discipleship wasn't just about preaching sermons. He discipled people by doing life together with them - eating, praying, discussing scripture, having fun, caring for others and taking risks together. For us, church isn't just about a Sunday service. Whether it's giving food to the homeless, meeting up to pray, our regular social events or just hanging out together after work or between lectures - we're all about doing life together as friends.
Discipleship Groups
Likewise, we encourage everyone at Anthem Church to get involved in a simple discipleship group of 2-5 people who share life together, read the Bible together and spur each other on to share the good news. It requires a lot more vulnerability and commitment than just going to a 'home group' or 'bible study'. But it's transformational! There's no better way to learn to walk closely with Jesus and share his love with others.
Anthem Kids
Children aren't just welcome at Anthem Church, we believe they're an essential and important part of our church family. Anthem Kids happens every Sunday during the service for children under 11. This is a really fun way for them to grow in their relationship with God through worship, interactive teaching, crafts, games and lots of fun. Safeguarding is a high priority at Anthem Church and we ensure that all of our dedicated team are DBS checked.

We meet at the Newarke Houses Museum, The Newarke, LE2 7BY (near DMU Campus, Magazine Square)
When?
Sundays, 4pm
We always share a meal together after the service, which you are warmly invited to. We wrap up about 6:30pm.
Bus Routes
We're a minute's walk from bust stop GH on Oxford Street, where you can catch the 48, 49, 83, 83A, 84, 85, 87, 88, 88A, 88E, HH, X6 and X84.
Parking
Nearby street parking is free on Sundays, or you can use the DMU Edith Murphy carpark. (Tickets are £2 but let us know your registration number and we'll refund you.)
I'd love to try church but what if...
We understand coming to church for the first time can be daunting, especially if it's not something you're used to. All sorts of questions can go through your head...
What if I don't know where to sit? What if people judge me? What if I've not got anyone to talk to? What if everyone's younger or older than me? What if my kids are noisy? What if I'm not totally sure I believe in God yet?
Okay, we get it. But how about some other questions: what if everyone likes you just as you are? What if it really doesn't matter where you sit? What if you find your people? What if everyone's kids mess around sometimes? What if this was one of the best decisions you ever made?

We believe God has got you here for more than just a degree. Uni is a time you can really get on fire for God, grow as a disciple and make a huge impact for the Kingdom of God!
If you're new to Leicester, or you haven't found a church home yet, we'd love welcome you, pray for you and support you however long you're in the city.
Our venue is right on the edge of DMU campus (on Magazine Square) and just a short walk from the University of Leicester.
